Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prince of Songkla University Pattani campus was established as the 6th Faculty of Prince of Songkla University. It was founded on April 23, 1974, in accordance with the project outlined in the third national economic and social development plan. The Faculty of Humanities was first used in the formative stages. The name was later changed on March 17, 1975 to Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The first batch of students was in the academic year 1975.

  • 1978 The Ministry of University Affairs promoted the status of ‘the Library Science Unit’ to ‘the Department of Library Science’

1985-1993

  • 1986 Launched Master of Arts programme in Thai Language
  • 1987 Launched Master of Arts programme in Library and Information Science
  • 1990 Launched Master of Arts Programme in Sociology
  • 1991 The Eastern Languages ​​ Department was founded
  • 1992 The History and Art Department was founded.

1994-2003

  • 1995 The Geography Department was established. Launched Master of Arts Programmes in Thai Language for Communication and Philosophy  
  • 1996 Master of Arts Programme in English
  • 1999 The Department of Library and Information Science has been renamed from the Department of Library Science
  • 2000 Offers a Master of Arts Programme in Social Development

2004-Current

  • 2007 The Department of Political Science was separated to establish the Faculty of Political Science
  • 2009
    – The Department of History has been renamed from the Department of Art and History
    – Improved the Bachelor of Arts Programme in Developmental Economics to Economics Programme
  • 2011 Launched fields of study in
    – Development Economics and ASEAN Economics
    – Improved the Bachelor of Arts Programme in Arabic to Bachelor of Arts Programme in Arabic and Arabic for Business
  • 2012
    – Improved the Bachelor of Business Administration in Management to fields of study in Human Resources and Organization; and Accounting
    – Offer Programme in Bachelor of Social Work
  • 2017 Offer Programme in European Languages (a combination of French and German programmes)
  • 2018 Offer Indonesian Language Minor
